Serving Suggestions (All Optional)
To Marinate the Pork Chops
Add 1 cup teriyaki sauce, 1 ½ teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper, and ½ teaspoon garlic powder to small mixing bowl. Whisk ingredients together until fully incorporated. Reserve ½ cup for cooking.
Transfer ½ cup of prepared marinade to airtight container and reserve until ready to cook pork chops.
Pour remaining prepared marinade into large baking dish. Place 4 medium bone-in pork chops side-by-side in baking dish. Flip pork chops over 3 to 4 times to coat both sides of pork chops in marinade, then cover baking dish with lid or plastic wrap.
Marinate pork chops up to 1 hour.
To Cook the Pork Chops
After marinating pork chops for desired length of time, place large skillet on stovetop over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon avocado oil to skillet and continue heating pan until oil is hot and shimmery.
Remove pork chops from marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off pork chops and back into baking dish before placing pork chops in hot skillet. Gently press each pork chop against bottom of skillet to sear pork chops completely.
Sear pork chops, undisturbed, 3 to 4 minutes or until lightly golden on underside. Once golden, flip pork chops over and sear pork chops 2 minutes, gently pressing pork chops against bottom of skillet.
After 2 minutes, pour reserved ½ cup marinade evenly over tops of pork chops. Cover skillet with lid and cook pork chops until internal temperature reaches 140° to 142° Fahrenheit, approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
When target temperature range is reached, transfer pork chops to large plate or cutting board. Loosely cover pork chops with aluminum foil and let pork chops rest 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, remove and discard aluminum foil, then transfer pork chops to serving plates. Top pork chops with pineapple slices, garnish with white sesame seeds and thinly-sliced green onions if desired, and serve warm with cooked rice or other sides of choice.
- Pork Chops: Bone-in pork chops are preferable, but boneless pork chops will work, too. Adjust the cook times as needed!
