Smoked tuna dip – perfectly Gulf Coast style! Creamy, smoky, and savory, this classic appetizer is super quick and easy to throw together, but it’s packed with flavor.

What Makes This Recipe So Good

  • Ever spent Spring Break on the Gulf Coast? Then you’ve probably had smoked tuna dip before! It’s all over menus at the beach, and it’s one of my must-have appetizers when my family and I hit 30A. in the summer. I’m thrilled to have a homemade copycat version to get me through all those non-vacation weeks of the year.
  • Smoked tuna dip takes your average old canned tuna salad and transforms it into something next level. Extra creamy, super savory, and deliciously smoky, with no dill relish in sight.
  • It’s made with fewer than 10 budget-friendly ingredients, the majority of which you might have in your kitchen right now.
  • Feeding a group? You can easily double the recipe and have more than enough smoked tuna dip to go around!

Chef’s Tips

  • A little bit of liquid smoke goes a long, long way, so be careful how much you add to the dip. I recommend starting with just ¼ teaspoon of liquid smoke. You can always add more, but you can’t take it back out!
  • Make sure your cream cheese is 100% room-temp before trying to mix the ingredients together. Cold cream cheese is a total pain to mix and doesn’t incorporate well without some serious effort. Save yourself the trouble and just set it out on the counter about 30 minutes before making your smoked tuna dip.
  • This dip will keep for a couple of days if you refrigerate it in an airtight container. Feel free to make up a batch ahead of time, or save the leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch.
